Steps to solving word problems

1. Identify the question
-Most times the question is found at the end of the problem

2. Determine what information you need
-Look for your clue words to tell you what operation to perform
-List the info needed because sometimes there is unneccesary information in the problem

3.Make a plan

4. Solve the problem
-Show your work!

5.Check your work
- If you add to solve the problem, subtract to check your work
- If you subtract to solve the problem, add to check your work
- If you multiply to solve the problem, divide to check your work
- If you divide to solve the problem, multiply to check your work

I am excited you all will be in my class this quarter. We will be learning/reviewing a variety of math concepts to prepare you to take the TABE Level 4 test this March and eventually your GED test.
